Ex 20 8 11 Remember To Keep Holy The Sabbath Day

"Become familiar with to assistance holy the sabbath day. Six days you may tramp and do all your work, [10] but the seventh day is the sabbath of the Lord, your God. No work may be done hence either by you, or your son or teenager, or your male or female slave, or your beast, or by the overseas who lives with you. [11] In six days the Lord finished the look and the earth, the sea and all that is in them; but on the seventh day he rested. That is why the Lord has blessed the sabbath day and finished it holy. (CCC 2168) The third domination of the Decalogue recalls the purity of the sabbath: "The seventh day is a sabbath of severe rest, holy to the Lord" (Ex 31:15). (CCC 2169) In communication of the sabbath Scripture recalls creation: "For in six days the Lord finished paradise and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; in view of that the Lord blessed the sabbath day and hallowed it" (Ex 20:11). (CCC 2171) God entrusted the sabbath to Israel to assistance as a "sign of the irrevocable harmony" (Cf. Ex 31:16). The sabbath is for the Lord, holy and set outside for the praise of God, his work of creation, and his reduction deeds on behalf of Israel. (CCC 2175) Sunday is in particular talented from the sabbath which it follows chronologically every week; for Christians its ceremony charge replaces that of the sabbath. In Christ's Passover, Sunday fulfills the spiritual truth of the Jewish sabbath and announces man's eternal rest in God. For darling under the Law keen for the mystery of Christ, and what was done award prefigured some aspects of Christ (Cf. 1 Cor 10:11): Persons who lived according to the old order of trappings enclose come to a new fancy, no longer supervision the sabbath, but the Lord's Day, in which our life is blessed by him and by his death (St. Ignatius of Antioch, "Ad Magn". 9, 1: SCh 10, 88).
