HER NAME MAY BE TRANSLATED TO" 'SHE WHO DISTRIBUTES OR DEALS OUT'" OR DIVINE VENGEANCE. "NEMESIS" WAS BOTH FEARED AND REVERED. She was an avenging goddess executing the righteous anger of the gods.

IN GREEK AND ROMAN MYTHOLOGY, "NEMESIS" WAS THE GODDESS OF RETRIBUTION. SHE IS A PRIMORDIAL DEITY WHO EMERGED FROM "CHAOS", THE PERSONIFICATION OF DIVINE JUSTICE. SHE REPRESENTS THAT POWER WHICH ADJUSTS THE BALANCE OF HUMAN AFFAIRS, BY AWARDING TO EACH INDIVIDUAL THE FATE WHICH HIS ACTIONS DESERVE SHE WAS THE GODDESS OF VENGEANCE, ALWAYS PREPARED TO PUNISH IMPIETY. SHE IS THE FORCE OF KARMA. "NEMESIS "IS USUALLY DEPICTED AS HOLDING A WHIP IN ONE HAND, AND A PAIR OF SCALES IN THE OTHER.
